Building An Aquarium

An aquarium consists of four glass sheets assembled together. You do not need any special skills or a lot of experience in order to build one. The secret is to ensure that you have all materials available before starting the actual work. Building an aquarium is not a challenging task if you follow the steps mentioned below. Firstly, after you have cut the glass sheets to the desired lengths, make sure to clean and sand the edges using a sand paper. Even if you don't see any grease or dirt, the edges should still be cleaned using, if possible, acetone solution.

This is necessary so that the glue can stick accordingly when the aquarium is finally assembled. If you want to avoid breaking your aquarium in the middle of the manufacturing process, then you should place a middle brace inside it. This is enough to hold all the sheets together and prevent potential slip ups. The next and most difficult part is applying properly the glue. This process should be done slowly in order to avoid the appearance of potential bubbles or gaps. A very good glue type for sticking glass sheets together is the Silicone type. The drying is so fast that the gluing work can be completed in three to five minutes.

After this, you should let the aquarium dry several hours and when it is done you should test the glass brace. You can use duct tape in order to avoid any dangerous consequences. The final test, is however the addition of water in the aquarium. If you do not observe any leaks, it means that you have done a great job and you have successfully built an aquarium. You can try even to customize your aquarium or experiment different forms and shapes, but keep in mind that the rectangular one is the most popular model and is very easily sold.
