Popular Aquarium Fish For Anglers

Modern anglers and hobbyists have many species of fish to choose from to fill their home aquariums. Two of the most popular varieties for aquarium owners, however, are saltwater Clown Fish and Angel Fish. In reality, one could go on for pages writing about all the varieties; but here's a little more about these two popular and beautiful groups of fish.

Saltwater Clown Fish have always been popular, but ever since the movie "Finding Nemo" they have become more sought after. Most saltwater Clown Fish have alternating bands of orange and white, but some types also have black lines. Anglers love these fish for saltwater tanks with reef systems, because they are peaceful and spend most of their time in the reef anemone. When people have multiples of this fish species, it's best to add them in pairs of two with one anemone per pair, and only when the tank is at least a 100-gallon size.

Angel fish might just be the most distinctive of the cichlid varieties, the most common variety being the Pterophyllum Scalare, which is silver with black stripes. This type angel fish has the shape of a discus, but with elaborate dorsal and anal fins and a long pointed tail. Anglers enjoy this species because the fins and tail glide round gracefully as they swim around the tank, which does bear a slight resemblance to an angel's wings. This is probably why they got their name.

There are many other types of saltwater fish to choose from, but these species are great places to start for a new aquarium owner.
